The FDA requires that dietary supplements and health plans based in functional medicine include a disclaimer on their labels that states: 

• This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration
• This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease

The FDA requires this disclaimer because only drugs (pharmaceuticals) can legally make claims about diagnosing, treating, curing, or preventing disease.
